CHALLENGES OF SUBTITLING CULTURAL ELEMENTS OF ENGLISH FILMS FROM ENGLISH TO ARABIC

Abstract

Subtitling is considered as one of the main translation methods in our modern day, but most of the translation students at University of Sebha aren't familiar with most of the cultural elements that occur in many American or British movies or in general, they don't have enough background of the entire cultural elements of the target language .Therefore, in this project I tend to investigate those challenges that face translators when it comes to subtitling the cultural elements.
